                        Frequently Asked Questions

                        Picture
I can't figure out what to do with my space. Can you help?
Yes, planning and producing original designs is the majority of my work. See the SPECIAL PROJECTS page for photos of a few that I've done recently. Each customer sends me photos  and dimensions of the proposed project area and I design something totally original for that home. This might be a tiled kitchen back splash, a tiled shower or a special design surrounding your fireplace.

                        How much is shipping?
At LakotaTileStudio.com the shipping is always free. I usually ship via Priority Mail and you'll get your tile within 2-3 days in the continental USA.

Why don't you sell plain tiles?
1 color tile: field tile: background tile:  These are names for the plain tiles that make up most of any wall you are tiling.  Whether it be the in the bathroom or kitchen or just anywhere you are doing a large project.

I offer to save you money and suggest you go to the places you can buy them by the box...BUT and this is a big BUT,  IF you want a professional finish to the project I offer to also match any color in the accent tile and then do the field tile in that color for a very reasonable price.  That way, you don't have to take the project tiles and try to match them to cheaper tiles by the gross.   The glaze finish may be hard to match and have it look like a really well done, high class project.   It is just an offer...but most people take
me up on it.  After the gas and the time running around looking for field tile to match, getting the ok from everyone concerned it is often just simpler and more convient to let me do the field tile.  Remember there is free shipping to consider too.
ALSO -  the tiling is the last thing considered and people by that time are so tired of the project or remodel that to have the whole thing settled is a great relief.  That way we get all the discussing and decision stuff done, I do the job, send it out and bingo they open the boxes and it's a done deal...
And in the end it saves time and money and hassle.
Field tile costs about $3.00 for each 4x4.

                        Do you do the installation?
Installations;  I don't do them.  I make maps if need be and I use the mesh for certain projects to make the setting in process faster thereby saving money on the time it takes the tile setter.  I also ask for the best measurements to do up the custom tiles to help the setter have less cutting to do..but I don't set tile.

Can I get a sample of a tile?
Sure, just buy ONE tile and it will be in your mailbox in a couple of days. However, since each tile is handmade and many are hand carved there will always be some variations in color, glaze, and carving. If you see those variations as a problem, you should not buy from this site...as this type of tile is NOT for you.

                        I still have questions...
