A Note From the Artist About Making YOUR Custom Mosaic Quilt Pattern
Buy them as pictured or tell me what you want
You may wish to send me a photo of a pattern you love and tell me what colors you want and how you will use it and I can make a special project just for you. When finished it will be an 8" by 8" piece. I can put it on mesh for installation on a wall, or can place it on a board for hanging as wall art.
These are time consuming MOSAIC quilt patterns. They are rolled out in one huge slab of clay...a pattern carved out and then each piece is hand cut, trimmed, tidied. Clay changes during the firing, these are fired twice...thus each piece requires lots of extra attention so they will align and colors will match when completed. Then each quilt pattern needs time to decide what colors they want to be and then they are glazed repeatedly so the glaze is just right after firing.
Quilters often contact me wanting to memorialize their special quilt. Their quilt, once turned into a tile piece is now able to be in a spot where you might not want real quilts exposed to heat and humidity...like in the kitchen and the bath or around the fireplace. If you want, I can place these on backboard...just let me know if I should leave room for grout to set in a wall or not...or if you are just going to frame it.
I love making these mosaic quilt tiles!
I love hearing the stories and collaborating with people about their inherited Gram's quilt and how they love it and want to have a block done in clay and put it up on the wall in the kitchen as a lovely reminder of all that love that went into making the quilt in the first place...Your heirloom quilt may have historic AND family history, so why not share it again is a tile piece?
All quilt tiles are placed on mesh before shipping...your tile installer will thank you for this kindness! Also, I can match any colors or existing tiles for you and make your design unique to you!
They make wonderful gifts too for family and quilting buddies.
